NEW LOCATION

Happy New Year folks! The Pig & The Poppy has moved locations! I now have a retail / studio space inside Canvas & Cork just off the Dahlonega Square - adjacent to Hancock Park. Canvas & Cork is a super fun wine tasting / art gallery venue - featuring wines from South Georgia and unique works of art from over 15 different artists. Come by for a visit. I am still open Wednesday - Sunday. I am also branching out to do festivals this year, so stay tuned as my schedule unfolds. Can't wait to see everyone in 2019 - the Year of the Pig!!

The Pig & The Poppy has now been open for a little over two week now!! The space is amazing, my neighbor at Divine Home & Whimsy is amazing and I am having so much fun. I have met so many great locals and tourists and I hope everyone comes back soon.

The Pig & The Poppy currently displays the art of four artists: Amy Sullivan , Liz Sullivan , Lisa Sullivan and Bill Lawson. I began planning for The Pig & The Poppy in 2011. Growing up in a creative family was the perfect recipe for designing such a unique and joyful art space. The Sullivan sisters (Lisa and I) always had the best costumes at Halloween and the best handmade projects growing up. With an artist for a mother and carpenter for a father, every project was a family affair. Lisa and I were refinishing antique furniture at our parents' restoration shop at a very early age. The Pig & The Poppy celebrates the Sullivan family's long history of art and creativity. We look forward to welcoming new artists into the fold as The Pig & The Poppy grows. The Pig & The Poppy will open it's doors to the public on Friday, April 15, 2016. We are located in the beautiful Historic Square of Dahlonega, GA. Our opening weekend is also Dahlonega's annual Bear On The Square bluegrass festival, so come on up/down and enjoy some great art and music. The weather is going to be lovely. I hope to see everyone there.

This website will be undergoing a transition from Amy Sullivan's personal website to the website for The Pig & The Poppy Folk Art & Gifts. It will feature art/handcrafts by me (Amy) as well as other fabulous local and regional artists/crafters, including my fabulous mother Liz Sullivan and amazing sister Lisa Sullivan. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience!!!

I will also be looking to add at least five more artists over the next couple of months, so if you or someone you know is an artist please send photos and an inquiry to [email protected].

Mom has finished the logo for The Pig & The Poppy and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! The pig (named Penrod) has so much personality!!!!! I couldn't imagine a better mascot for my folk art shop. My goal is to be up and operating in Dahlonega, GA before Spring 2016. Stay tuned for Grand Opening details!!!!

Tis the Season - to Give the Gift of Art!

It has been almost four months since my last art show and I am definitely feeling antsy to be artsy! Therefore, I decided to follow in my mother's fabulous folk art footsteps and design a series of wooden holiday ornaments for sale (4"x4" ea). I hope everyone has a joyous and peaceful season! Looking forward to an art filled 2015!!

Tapestri's Annual "Live Without Fear" Fundraiser

I am currently on the Board of Directors of Tapestri, a wonderful not-for-profit organization that fights against human trafficking, domestic violence and other forms of exploitation in the refugee population. This past Thursday (Sept. 18th) we had our Fourth Annual "Live Without Fear" Fundraiser, which includes a silent auction made up largely of art items. This year, as with the past two years, my Mom and I donated the majority of the art items. The event, while not huge, was quite a success. Everyone was very pleased with the auction items and I heard many many wonderful comments from the guests regarding the art work. In fact, there are two FBI agents (who work with Tapestri clients) who come to the event each year to buy my art. I think they each have at least three or four of my paintings! They even commissioned a piece from me once to give to their supervisor who was being promoted. Mom's art, of course, sold instantly - even the larger, high-dollar pieces. Mom's holiday ornaments are ALWAYS a crowd-pleaser and there are folks who come back each year to scoop them up. One of my friends, who can seldom make it to the event, always tells me "let me know if any ornaments don't sell and I will buy them!" I have pasted a few pics below of the event and a few of Mom's holiday ornaments.

So Long Crossroads!

The Crossroads show came to a close Friday night. The weather was gorgeous, the wine was flowing and friends and visitors came out in full-force. Crossroads was a great inaugural show for me, starting out in Raleigh at Simkin Gallery and ending in Atlanta at Artmatch Gallery. It really feels great to finally share my art with the world. Mom and I appreciate everyone's love and support. We truly had a blast. Stay tuned to see what happens next!!!!

Ralph has a new home!

Ralph the water buffalo has a new home! A friend and former colleague of mine is his proud new owner. It is actually quite fitting that she should have Ralph, as it was her photo posted to Facebook that inspired me to paint Ralph. She had taken an amazing trip to Africa and posted a collection of pictures to Facebook highlighting her adventures. As soon as I saw the picture of the gorgeous water buffalo, I pulled out my paints and started painting him. I have posted a pic below of the new owner and of the picture that inspired this painting.

Artmatch Closing Reception

The closing reception for the Crossroads show at Artmatch Gallery will be this Friday, July 25th. There will also be an art walk in the area, so we are hoping for lots of walk-ins. The invitation is below - with pictures of the festivities to follow. The Crossroads show has had a great run. Next stop? Who knows; It's a mystery!
